Ani Difranco

Angela Maria Ani DiFranco is an American-Canadian artist and singer. She has released over 20 albums. DiFranco classifies her music under the terms folk-rock and alternative, but it also contains influences such as punk, hip-hop, and jazz. Ani Difranco is believed as a feminist icon and a Grammy award-winning. In the beginning, as one of the first female artists in the 1990s, DiFranco founded her record label. DiFranco is the daughter of Elizabeth (Ross), and Dante Americo DiFranco. They were introduced at The Massachusetts Institute of Technology. Her mother and father were both of Montreal descent. Ani Difrasco composed and recorded the song "32 Flavors". This song appeared on her 5th studio album Not a Pretty Girl which was released in the year 1995. One version of this song is featured on the film Canadian romantic film Better Than Chocolate. DiFranco made an apology public in 2013, after it emerged that she had scheduled a three-day conference at an Louisiana plantation. Many (including us) weren't affected by her decision to cancel. DiFranco released an apology a couple of weeks after. Although she's known as Little Peoplesinger, she's worked with many musicians and artists, from Pete Seeger through Chuck D all the way to Prince. Her home is New Orleans. Ani DiFranco lives with Kristen Ford. By 14 she was writing her own songs. They continued to be performed at coffee houses and bars in her teens. DiFranco attended Buffalo State College after graduating at the age of 16 from Buffalo Academy for Visual and Performing Arts. The baritone Ani plays is an individualized Alvarez guitar that was made following several consultations with Chrys the Alvarez representative for artists during the time. DiFranco is a resident of New Orleans, with her family: husband and two kids. Lefty is their dog companion who comes and goes while she talks. DiFranco has admitted that she feels mixed emotions about her past career, which spans more than three years. Ani DiFranco achieved her musical famous status as a singer/songwriter and punk/folk at the age 25 both with both fans and critics with Not A Pretty Girl.
